Robber Disuaded by Jesus Talk
by Contemporary Adults Leadership on 07/31/10
Once in awhile I run accross something so astounding that I just need to pass it on! The link below will take you to a website with a video showing an actual burglery in progress, but it is stopped by Jesus!
A 20-year-old Christian mobile phone shop manager in Florida stops a would-be armed robber by preaching to him.

Change
by Contemporary Adults Leadership on 07/22/10
Change is inevitable. Minute by Minute, nothing stays the same. Whether it's work changes, personal changes, environmental changes...change is going to happen whether you want it to or not.
Lately I have discovered a tendancy in myself to shut down when I can't control the changes around me. Have you ever experienced this? It is kind of like a controlled temper tantrum if you will.
This week, my goal has been to release my desire to control my environment to God. He can take care of it.
James 1:17 (KJV ) says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Meaning, God will not change, no matter what changes around me. I can also look at change as a gift from HIM. A perfect gift, meant to train me, teach me and more importantly, show His love for me!

Email List
by Contemporary Adults Leadership on 05/01/10Some of you have asked how you can join our class email list. For the most part, only those who have attended our class at one point or another are permitted to subscribe to the list. We control this by asking those who are interested to sign-up in class. You can ask one of our class greeters for an information card or pick one up in the back of the classroom on the round oak table. If you have any other questions about this or any other class process, please comment on this post or email CCADULTS@GMAIL.COM.
Trading My Pain
by Contemporary Adults Leadership on 04/26/10
Yesterday in class, our worship leader lead us in the song, "Trading my Sorrow's" by Darrell Evans. One of the lyrics in the song has stuck with me:
I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord
As I sang, I started thinking about my pain over the past year. Some pain was emotional, some pain was physcal, some pain was both. In the last 12 months, I have lost my job, moved twice and suffered increasing pain associated with my arthritis and psoriasis. All of these things deeply effected me no matter how happy I appeared in public. I realized as I sang, when one is in pain, no matter the reason, that pain will effect everything one does especially if one chooses to hold on to it rather than let it go. Even as I sang about trading my pain and laying it down for the Joy of the Lord, I had to ask myself, do I really mean this? Am I really willing to trade my pain and sickness for the Joy of Jesus?
During Pastor Paul's teaching this past Sunday, he shared that once the Lord had healed him of his prolonged illness he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself! That comment sure hit home! Along with the sickness and pain over the past year there has been extreme blessing as well: a new job, a new home, and medical hope for my physical pain, but with all that I find myself trying to hold on and reflect on the pain of the past year, leading me again to ask the question: Am I really willing to trade my pain and sickness for the Joy of the Lord? What about you? Are you holding on to your pain and sorrow or are you ready to join me and trade it in? - Kathy Dasilva
Would you like to share your thoughts here? Just email your story, reflection, or brief testamony to ccadults@gmail.com. The class leadership (and perhaps Pastor Paul) will take a look and see if it is appropriate for this space. God bless you as you go through your day.
Why Chatter Matters?
by Contemporary Adults Leadership on 04/18/10
"CHATTER MATTERS" is the new interactive blog for Calvary Community Church's Contemporary Adults class. Its purpose is to inspire and inform.
Why the name "Chatter Matters?" Well, because chatter matters! Haven't you noticed in class or in service, if someone is chattering around you, your first impulse is to try and listen to the chatter instead of the sermon? Side-chatter innocently draws attention to itself and it is my hope this mini-blog will as well.
Most of the time, this portion of the Calvary Contempory Adults website will post urgent prayer requests or last minute information on class happenings. Other times, class leadership may have an encouraging word for you, the reader, so check in often!
Today, I will end our first class blog with a thought of the day, found in a previous edition of Our Daily Bread (http://odb.org/): The first point of wisdom is to know the truth; the second, to discern what is false.
